Sunday, August 27, 2006 - Mixedup

As you might know, we are big believers in sharing the fruits of our artistic labors with other musicians so they can create derivative works. That's why we release a lot of our music through the Creative Commons Non-Commercial Share-Alike Attribution license. That lets other people use our music to create new songs, etc. (Naturally, it's only free if they don't use it commercially ... if they're going to make money on it, we want to negotiate a little cut for the gas fund ... :)

Recently we found a bunch of cool remixes on the site CCMixter.net, which hosts lots of great Creative Commons music for just such a purpose. Through Magnatune, we provided the source tracks from one track on our first studio album, Lefty's Alone, and there have been a bunch great remixes that people have used our music in.

Thanks to LeFou for the tip.

ATX Fest (an Austin festival we played in April) just released their podcasts of this year's show. You can download and listen to every set from the entire festival (including Drop Trio), free of charge. Pretty rad! Get it here.

Saturday, August 12, 2006 - Send Off

Our show last night at Helios was a blast. We sent GPF off to his new digs in Ft. Worth with aplomb.

Thanks to Groovehouse for the photos, and to all our peeps for coming out and making it a good time. We'll post some audio soon. Soon-ish, anyway.

Thanks also to the Alan Isaac quintet for rounding out the evening with some energetic standards.

Friday, August 04, 2006 - Thanks!

We'd like to thank everyone who voted in this year's Houston Press Music Awards. Drop Trio was named "Best Jazz". Big ups to our friends and fans - thank you!

Thursday, August 03, 2006 - MilkPop

Hey, check it out - Drop Trio was just featured in the new edition of MilkPop online magazine.

Wednesday, August 02, 2006 - Le Hot Club

Tonight I'm playing with a Gypsy jazz group called Le Hot Club at the Continental Club. We hit the stage at 10 and play until our limbs fall off...or until the place closes. See ya there.

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 - Houston Press Awards Showcase

Big ups to everybody who came out to watch us play at the Houston Press Music Awards. We played to a packed room at the M Bar, and really had a blast. We also got to see a ton of great music by the many excellent bands who were nominated. Ian even snapped a few pics.

Our next Houston show is August 11th at Helios (10pm - midnight). It's the Patrick-get-out-of-jail show, and should be wicked. Hope to see you there.
