Hey y'all - if you'd like to see Drop Trio on the bill for the Austin City Limits festival this year,
give us a vote ... there's never been a spaceship jazz band at ACL, but somebody's got to be first!
What a weekend!!! The final shows of the Drop Trio/Grass/Audio Flava travelling circus were great. Many thanks to
The Vortex in Beaumont for letting us move our show to their venue at the last minute. Also thanks to the
The Weary Boys for sharing their night. John Fulbright was genius in getting the show to go on when it seemed it was doomed. Also thanks to Rola and her rad staff at
Revolution in Bryan for making the bands feel welcome. Also, thanks
Geekette for the photos. There is already one more Drop Trio/Grass/Audio Flava show booked, and you can expect many more. Here are some pics from this weekend, (The pics of Jarle and Ian dancing are in my personal stash):

The VortexThis show was originally booked at the Logon Cafe, but it has been moved to the Vortex.
The Weary Boys were gracious enough to let us jump in on their gig. Thanks fellas. Also thanks to John Fulbright for all his work keeping this show alive.

The Drop Trio/Grass show had a successful first two nights. Grass is now one of my favorite bands ever. We'll do it again this weekend. Friday in Beaumont, Saturday in Bryan.
Here are more details.

Here's the details for our two TX shows this weekend.
Friday night, January 13th, we're at the
Last Concert Cafe in Houston.
Grass will go on first at 10pm, and Drop Trio will hit the stage at 11:15. (Double check this spot tomorrow before the show, just to make sure on the times.) Cover is $5.
Last Concert Cafe is at 1403 Nance. To get there, from points west (downtown, Montrose, Heights, etc.), just take I-10 East to the Hardy/McKee/Nance exit. Hang two quick rights at the end of the ramp, and the cafe is ahead on your right. Their mexican food
rules, so go early for dinner.
Saturday night, we'll be in Austin at
Ruta Maya.
Audioflava plays first at 9, then
Grass at 10:15, then Drop Trio at 11:30 (again, check here for time updates; this isn't what Ruta Maya has on their site, so we could have it backwards). Cover is $5.
Ruta Maya is at 3601 South Congress - just north of 71 (Ben White), up a hill on the east side of the street (look for the watertower). They've got good munchies too, so bring your appetite.
See you there!
We had a great December. Ian started work on his solo ARP CD. Read about and listen to his progress
HERE. Patrick spent his time off traveling and writing a new prog/funk/rock tune which we can't wait to get to work on. I spent my time
drumming, and teaching. As a band we worked on a couple of
cover tunes. We should start pulling them out at upcoming gigs. Speaking of upcoming gigs...

Well, not in person, unfortunately ... but check it out, our music has been
featured on a Creative Commons music show in Cairo. Thanks to Alaa for spinning it!
Hey everybody -
happy new year! Hopefully you just got our
new year email (if not, you should
join our email list!)
Two minor updates since the email:
1 - We just (5 minutes ago) found out that we will NOT be playing on KUT on 1/12 ... the day's programming has been preempted by the Alito nomination hearings. We'll reschedule for a later date.
2 - Forgot to mention that digital downloads of Cezanne are also available through our partner
Outbound Music. You can purchase and download MP3s (and real CDs) through them too!
Happy new year!
