So, last night's
Electronic Improv Games show was pretty cool. Ian participated, along with about a dozen other electronic musicians (including his fellow
KTRU DJs
Chuck Roast and
Maria Chavez). Here's a short excerpt from one of the performances:
- Segment 1 (Excerpt) - 3:14, 3.8 MB
This clip is from the first segment, while Ian was playing (that's him on the pulsing sound, which is coming from the
Prophet 600). Other musicians heard here are Maria Chavez (on scratchy jumpy turntables), Pizo Meyer from
Phoenelai (on soft drones), and
Kevin Novak of T.E.F. (on thunderous sounding stuff). Towards the end of this clip, the game shifted it to be Kevin's turn, and halfway through, something briefly killed his power and reset all of his equipment. Kind of a bummer, except that it sounded really cool. :) Anyway, if you like stuff like this, there's probably a lot more of it in Houston than you realize ...
